Gelion appoints Nick Batt as head of engineering
Anglo-Australian energy storage innovator Gelion plc has appointed Nick Batt as Engineering Director.
Mr Batt joins the company at an exciting stage as Gelion executes its strategy to commercialise its safe, scalable low-cost zinc-bromide batteries for the renewable energy industry.
An electrical engineer by training, Mr Batt brings a wealth of experience working in grid-scale energy companies and start-up operations. He has worked in the electricity, energy storage and distribution industries for two decades.
Gelion CEO Andrew Grimes said: “We are thrilled to have Nick join us at a crucial stage as we start to bring our products to market. His background managing large-scale energy storage systems and working in the battery start-up space makes him ideal for this new role.”
Mr Batt will oversee the deployment and integration of Gelion’s energy storage systems with customers and commercial partners.
He said: “I’m looking forward to applying Gelion’s unique technology to overcome some of the world’s biggest energy challenges.”
Mr Batt joins from RES, an established provider of lithium-ion energy storage solutions. Before that he worked at Ecoult, a start-up established to commercialise a hybrid advanced lead-acid battery system developed at CSIRO, Australia’s national scientific organisation.
